Denikwa James

Coach Denikwa is a native of Dallas, Texas, with a lifelong passion for volleyball and athlete development. She is a graduate of Lincoln High School, where she competed for four years as a varsity middle hitter and earned all-conference honors.

Denikwa continued her volleyball career at the Division I level at Morgan State University, where she played a key role in leading the Lady Bears to their first-ever MEAC Championship. Her outstanding performance earned her MEAC First Team recognition. In recognition of her impact on the program and the sport, Denikwa was inducted into the Morgan State University Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2023.



She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Morgan State University in 1994 and has dedicated her career to coaching and mentoring young athletes. Denikwa has been a coach at Franklin High School for 23 years, where she is known for developing not only strong volleyball skills, but also confidence, leadership, and a love for the game in young women.
